Tuesday, January 6 1:00 PM The Role of Sodium in Your Health Josephine Morrissey, a SNAP-ED NY Nutrition Educator,

will discuss how sodium affects our health at the West Falls-Colden Community Library, 1966 Davis Road, West Falls, NY. Throughout this workshop we will discuss the impacts of sodium on your heart and blood pressure, how to avoid having too much, reading nutrition fact labels, and some heart-healthy tips on how to swap out sodium. Friday, January 9 & 23 10:30AM-Noon Writing Club Are you an aspiring or seasoned writer? Join this informal gathering of adults who enjoy writing. Bring what you’ve been working on to share with the group. Participate in encouraging, constructive feedback, and support, as well as lively conversation. Additional dates Feb 13 & 27, Mar 13 & 27, April 10 & 24, May 8 & 22. No charge.

Tuesday, January 13 6:30PM Sourdough Bread Making Class: Sarah Maurer will teach the basics of making sourdough bread. You will make our own sourdough bread starter to take home. Cost is $5.00

Boston Free Library:

Hello Boston Free Library Supporters!

This October, the Friends of the Boston Library will be hosting their Annual Book Sale at the Boston Free Library, located at 9475 Boston State Road, Boston NY. The Book Sale will take place from Saturday, October 11th through Saturday, October 25th during regular library hours (listed below).

Books are presorted and priced to sell. Many DVDs, music CDs, and almost new items are available. Most items are $1.00 and under and children’s books are only $0.25. Antique and collectible books are priced individually. Boxes and bags will be provided by the library or you may bring your own. Beginning Friday, October 17th you can fill a box for $5.00. From Tuesday, October 21st until the end of the sale you can fill a box for just $2.00.

All proceeds will benefit the Boston Free Library. Funds raised during the event support the maintenance of the historic building and help the library continue to provide free programming for all ages.

Other activities at the Boston Free Library this fall include monthly craft programs for all ages, Lego Club on one Tuesday each month, and weekly Preschool Story Time on Thursdays at 11:00 AM. The library is also hosting Painted Pumpkins on October 16th, Halloween Games at 11:00 AM on October 25th and Chess Club at 6:00 PM on October 30th. Hawk Creek will be at the Boston Free Library with special visitors for Silent Hunters of the Night on Saturday, November 1st at 11:00 AM. The Boston Free Library also has an ever-expanding Library of Things including yard games, a metal detector, digital radon detector, trail camera, outdoor projector, film and slide converter devices, a New York State Parks Pass, Buffalo Museum of Science passes and much more! The library has a 3D printer, Cricut Maker Machine, laminator, Epson printer and paper shredder available for in-house use.
