Passport Services:
Passport applications are accepted at the Town Clerk's Office
during regular business hours. Your completed application
will be processed and forwarded to Passport Services on the
same day that you apply.
Normally, you can expect your passport to arrive within six
(6) weeks via first class mail. Passport processing fees vary
depending on type of passport and age of applicant. Expedited
service is available from the United States Department of
State for an additional fee. Accepted forms of payment include
personal checks and money orders.
All persons, including newborn infants, are required to obtain
passports in their own names for travel to most foreign countries.
You must bring acceptable proof of United States Citizenship
(i.e. a certified birth certificate and/or a previous passport)
and proof of identity (i.e. a previous passport or a driver's
license). Anyone who is applying for a new passport must apply
in person. Children must be accompanied by their parents when
applying for a passport. All passport applications must include
two passport photos. Passport applications must be signed
in the presence of a passport agent.

Notary Public Services:
The Town Clerk's Office also provides notary services. You
may bring your unsigned document, along with your driver's
license to the office and we can assist in helping you. There
is no charge for this service.
Hunting Licenses:
All hunters may obtain a hunting or fishing license in the
Town Clerk's Office. You will need to bring your driver's
license or previous hunting or fishing license and if you
are a first time hunter, you need to bring your certificate
from all courses you attended.

How to obtain dog licenses:
The Town Clerk's Office acts as the issuing agent of licenses
for dogs in the Town of Colden. All dogs require a license
at the age of four months. In order to license your dog, you
will need:
*Proof of rabies vaccination.
*Certification from a licenses veterinarian if the dog is
spayed/neutered.
The fees for licensing a dog are:
$5.00 for a spayed or neutered dog.
$13.00 for a unspayed or unneutered dog.
How to obtain a marriage license:
Marriage licenses can be applied for at the Town Clerk's
Office. Both parties must be present and have the following:
*Proper photo identification; either a driver's license,
non-driver ID card, passport or military ID.
*Birth certificate.
*Proof of end of all previous marriages.
The fee for a marriage license is $40. The license is not
valid for 24 hours and is valid for sixty days.
How to obtain a handicap parking permit:
You are eligible for a handicap parking permit if you are
a New York State resident having a disability that impairs
your mobility. The application form is available at our office
and must be completed by your doctor and returned to our office
to obtain the handicap parking permit. You must reside in
the Town of Colden to obtain the parking permit from our office.
Please bring your driver's license or non-driver identification
card with you when you come to our office
County Tax Collection:
The Town Clerk's Office collects the Town and County Taxes.
The tax bills are sent out by February 15th of each year and
are due by March 15th of each year. Payments can be made through
the mail or in person at our office during regular business
hours. The Town Clerk can collect taxes through June 30th
of each year and then the tax rolls go to the County of Erie
for collection. We do not accept credit card payment for the
payment of taxes. Partial payments are accepted.

The Town Clerk's Office does not collect the School tax.

How to obtain tax receipts:
Your request for tax receipts can be faxed to our office
at (716) 941-9335 or by mail. The mailing

Voter registration forms are available
at the Town Hall. If you are a new
Colden resident or have merely
moved across the street,
YOU MUST RE-REGISTER.
Freedom of Information:
The Freedom of Information Law, effective January 1, 1979,
reaffirms your right to know how your government operates.
It provides rights of access to records reflective of governmental
decisions and policies that affect the lives of every New
Yorker. If there is information you would like to retrieve
from the Town of Colden. You can request a form from our office
or write a letter and send it to the Town of Colden, 8812
State Road, PO Box335 Colden, NY 14033. Please detail exactly
what you are looking for. There will be a charge of $.25 per
page for the information requested.
COLDEN CEMETERY
This is just a reminder that the Colden Cemetery Association
is always in
need of donations. Also, graves are available in the New Cemetery
at a
cost of $600 per grave.

Located on Maltby Rd. in Glenwood, offers a quiet and pastoral
final resting place for anyone. Graves are available throughout
the
three acre property for $550 each.

Garbage & Recycling must be placed by 6:00a.m.
on your scheduled day.
Each week you are allowed to place only:

Containers shall not weigh more than 70 lbs. when
filled or are not to exceed 30 gallon capacity.
Large bulk items include, but are not limited to:
furniture, mattresses, box springs, carpets cut into
pieces, and appliances. Any appliance containing
CFC’S/FREON (refrigerators, freezers, air
conditioners, etc.) can be placed at the curb and
have the material removed at no cost
ITEMS NOT PICKED UP
Pesticides, yard waste, oil solvents, flammable liquids, explosives,
gas tanks (lawn mowers, gas grills,) animal carcasses,
fecal matter, industrial wastes, other regulated hazardous
waste or any commercially produced construction materials.
Sharps containers cannot be picked up. Any Sharps Containers
may be taken to any hospital for disposal.
ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS MUST HAVE THE GLASS REMOVED AND CONTAINED.

How to obtain genealogy information:
Your request for genealogy can be faxed to our office at
(716) 941-9335 or by mail. The mailing address: Town of Colden,
8812 State Road, Colden NY 14033. Genealogy responses may
not be answered immediately as the information is researched
when the clerk's staff has time from the office's regular
duties.
How to obtain a birth certificate:
For any births in the Town of Colden, you may request a certified
copy of your birth certificate from our office. The New York
State fee is $10 for each certified copy.
You must be at least 18 years of age to obtain your birth
certificate. The parents listed on the birth certificate can
also obtain certified copies of the birth certificate. By
order of a New York State Court, a spouse, child or other
person may obtain a copy of a birth certificate.
You may request your birth certificate in person or at our
office by completing the application form noting all your
pertinent personal information and presenting valid identification
or you may request your birth certificate by mail noting your
birth name, date of birth, parent's names (including mother's
maiden name) and including a photocopy of your valid identification
as well as your return address. The mailing address is:

Please include a money order or check payable to the Town
of Colden in the amount of $10 for each certificate requested.
How to obtain a death certificate:
For any deaths in the Town of Colden, you may request a certified
copy of the death certificate from our office. The New York
State fee is $10 for each certified copy requested. You must
be the spouse, parent or child of the deceased to obtain the
death certificate or have a documented lawful right or claim;
documented medical need or New York State Court Order. If
the applicant is not the spouse, parent or child of the decedent,
a lawful right or claim must be documented. An example of
a lawful right or claim would be a death record needed by
the applicant to claim a benefit. Documentation would consist
of an official letter from the agency verifying that to process
the claim they require from the applicant a copy of the requested
death record.
You may request the death certificate in person at our office
by completing the application form noting all pertinent information
about
the decedent and your relationship to the decedent and presenting
valid identification or you may request the death certificate
by mail by noting the name of the decedent, date of death,
your relationship to the decedent and include a photocopy
of your valid identification as well as your return address.

How to obtain a certified copy of a marriage record:
The records for marriage licenses are maintained at the office
where the marriage license was obtained (and not where the
marriage ceremony took place). You may request a certified
copy of your marriage certificate from our office if you applied
for your license at our office. Either the bride or groom
may obtain the certified copy or a person who has a documented
judicial or other proper purpose or by New York State Court
order. The New York State fee is $10 for each certified copy.
You may request the marriage certificate in person at our
office by completing the application form noting all pertinent
information about the marriage and presenting valid identification
or you may request the marriage certificate by mail by noting
the names of the bride and groom and date of marriage and
include a photocopy of your valid identification as well as
